Rain arrives at right time

THE autumn break has arrived at the right time, according to grape, dried vine fruit and almond growers who are in the latter stages of their harvest.

Murray Valley Winegrowers executive officer Mike Stone said it was fortunate the rain didn’t arrive two to three weeks earlier, when the vintage was in full swing.

“It is better that we are in the last 5 to 10 per cent of harvest,” he said.
