IRAAK citrus grower Darren Minter says this week’s rain will help increase the size of his navel oranges, which he expects to begin picking in about a month.

Mr Minter said citrus growers would have preferred some rain last month, but this would not have suited the dried vine fruit and wine grape growers who were fortunately wrapping up their season.

“This week and next week some rain would be good,” he said.

“The citrus will grow a couple of millimetres in the rain.”
