MILDURA mayor Glenn Milne has called for the George Chaffey Bridge to be widened to four lanes after Thursday afternoon’s traffic chaos.
Hundreds of cars became gridlocked about 4:30pm after a utility and a Winnebago collided with the ute hitting the bridge barrier.
The male driver of the ute was taken to Mildura Base Hospital with minor injuries.
Mildura police Sergeant Mark Kendall said the two-hour traffic delay was caused by excess oil and engine coolant that had leaked on to the road after the crash.
