THE peak body representing Victorian farmers says the Federal Government needs to closely consult the agricultural sector about abolishing its 457 visa program and replacing it with a temporary skill-shortage visa.
The change is expected to be implemented from March 18 next year.
Victorian Farmers Federation horticulture president Emma Germano said about 1000 temporary work skilled (457) visas were issued to the nation’s agricultural sector each year.
