The think tank is part of the Victorian Opposition’s commitments leading up to the 2018 state election to inspire people to move from metropolitan Melbourne to regional Victoria.

Member for Northern Victoria Luke O’Sullivan said the brainstorming session was a way Mildura residents could decide how the Coalition’s population plan can best benefit the region.

The scheme was announced in June last year during the Shadow Cabinet’s visit to the region.

About 75 per cent of Victoria’s 5.96 million residents live in Greater Melbourne, which Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said at the time was unsustainable as the city welcomed 110,000 new people each year.
