MILDURA Mayor Glenn Milne says the community, not the State Government, should decide who sits on the Lower Murray Water (LMW)  board.

Former directors of the now-defunct First Mildura Irrigation Trust, which the State Government shut down in 2008, have reignited their push for the water corporation’s board to be chosen by growers instead of appointed by the government.

It has received the backing of Cr Milne, an LMW director during the early 2000s, who said democratic elections would give the community a greater say in how the water corporation was managed.
