THE third open for the year will tee off this Saturday at Red Cliffs Golf Club, with Greg Rhodes going in as hot favourite after his easy win at Mildura.

With Red Cliffs’ two top golfers from the past 10 years – Tim Walker and Justin McPhee – away for the weekend, the role of challenger will be left to Ashley Whitehouse, who played himself into and then out of contention at Coomealla and was unable to play at Mildura.

Cameron Stewart will hopefully tee up for his first open of the year after missing both events. If Cameron is a starter, he will be a contender, as will brother Andrew whose form has been hot and cold over the past few years. But having forced his way into contention in the last open may be a sign he is ready to contend consistently this year.
