Social media snaps up crowds

RECORD numbers lined the Murray River for Mildura’s premier ski race at the weekend and the competition’s organisers say Snapchat is partly responsible.

Mildura Ski Club president Kim Baldwin said warmer autumn weather helped bring the bumper crowd out for the event but also credited the club’s use of social media for growing the event.

The club has used the power of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even Snapchat to market itself to the next generation of skiing fans.
