Club still in dark over blackout

THE Wentworth District Football Club heirarchy are still scratching their collective heads over what caused Friday night’s blackout at George Gordon Oval.

A bumper crowd had turned up to see the homecoming of former AFL star Ben McGlynn.

The lights suddenly went out in the third quarter with the visiting Imperials in front.

Wentworth president Andy Murdoch said everything inside the oval perimeter shut off as a result of the safety switch in the ground’s main meter box being tripped, plunging the ground into darkness.
