Cases drive up anthrax fears

FURTHER cases of the deadly bacterial infection anthrax have been detected in sheep in the Swan Hill region.

Agriculture Victoria yesterday said it was responding to more cases across two non-neighbouring premises, while a further suspected case of anthrax, confirmed by laboratory testing at the weekend, was detected at a separate but related property.

It followed the quarantining of a farm at Swan Hill earlier this month after a sheep was killed by the infection.
