SUNRAYSIA drivers mostly stayed safe on the roads over the long weekend during a police blitz.

The statewide Operation Arid saw a high police presence on the roads for the Labour Day weekend, specifically targeting fatigue.

Mildura Highway Patrol Sergeant Mark McDonald said police were mostly pleased with driver behaviour.

In the Mildura and Robinvale region, police conducted 1669 breath tests, with three positive readings.
