A MILDURA motorcycle dealer says Sunraysia quad bike owners need to ensure children under 16 only ride quad bikes designed for their age.

The Royal College of Australasian Surgeons is calling for a ban on the use of quad bikes by children across the nation following a spate of recent deaths.

Earlier this month, in the NSW town of Narrabri, a six-year-old girl died after a quad bike crashed with two other girls, both aged 13, also on the bike.
