Duo in Aussie titles bid

TWO Mildura under 16 basketballers will stake their claims for Australian championships selection at a state combine in Melbourne next month.

Right: Mildura Heat youth player Caleb Connick’s impressive performances at the recent Australian Junior Country Cup – including the second highest points per game average (14.38) for his side and the eighth best overall – earned him an invitation to the Victoria Country All State Under 16 Combine.

Caleb Connick and Jack Hicks were among 51 top prospects, including 27 boys and 24 girls, from associations across regional Victoria named on the respective 2017 Victoria­­­ Country­­­ All State Under 16 Combine lists.

The high-performance camp will be held at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday, March 11, when participants will have the chance to impress selectors ahead of the Australian Under-16­­­ Junior Championship to held in Stirling, Perth, in July.
