Region holds for black spot funds

Better mobile coverage is critical for regional Australia

Mobile phone users in rural black spots remain on hold as they await the outcomes of new tower funding.

Telcos and politicians have backed the process to allocate $60 million of round three funding of the Mobile Black Spot Program (MBSP), which is expected to begin this year. 

A spokeswoman for Minister for Regional Communications Fiona Nash said the guidelines for round three were yet to be developed.
