MILDURA residents have been urged to put themselves in the place of someone in need when they donate to the Salvation Army.

The call comes after the local charity recorded a year in which about two-thirds of “donations” were unusable.

Captain Julie Moyle said just one-third of items left at the Fourteenth Street and Gallagher Lane collection points were able to either be sold in the organisation’s thrift shop or recycled.
