TREASURER Tim Pallas says the full upgrade of the Mildura Airport runway will create up to 700 direct and indirect jobs in the long term and generate more than $20 million in economic benefits each year.

The State Government yesterday allocated $5 million towards the lengthening and strengthening of the runway – the final piece in the puzzle sought by airport management and Mildura Rural City Council.

The Federal Government committed $10 million toward the $25 million project earlier this year, with the council contributing $4 million and $6 million coming from industry.
