Council plans to open doors

MILDURA Rural City Council made a quarter of its decisions behind closed doors last year.

While councils around the state made an average of 11.5 per cent of their decisions in camera, Mildura council did so 25.2 per cent of the time.

The council expects that figure to be halved in the future, saying the high number of closed doors decisions in 2015/16 reflects “relatively low levels of financial delegation to senior officers”.
