DESPITE being his busiest time of year, Santa Claus made an early visit to the Mildura­ Blood Donor Service this week. 

The local centre still needs more than 80 blood donations between December 19 and January 3 to prevent a shortage of blood products which are vital to the treatment of cancer patients.

Mildura Donor Centre manager Tracey Watt said in the lead-up to Christmas, donations typically slowed down which caused concerns about supplies running low.
