Cramps ban appeal next year

DISGRACED Harness racing identities Shane and Greg Cramp will have their appeals against 12-year bans heard early next year.

The father-son duo were rubbed out of the sport last year after pleading guilty to race fixing in Melbourne Magistrates Court.

They said the disqualification, which was upheld by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board, was too severe and appealed to VCAT.

The hearings were originally scheduled to be heard by VCAT on September 28 but their legal representatives asked for it to be adjourned.

The matter will now be heard on February 6 and the Cramps remain banned in the interim.

The bans relate to their conduct with respect to race 5 at Mildura on November 12, 2014, while Shayne Cramp’s sentence also related to his conduct with respect to race 6 at Mildura on November 29, 2014.
