HEALTH professionals around the Mallee and Wimmera have been urged to take advantage of the Rural General Practice Grants (RGPG) program in a bid to ensure the government responds to the health and wellbeing needs of regional and rural communities.

Member for Mallee Andrew Broad said general medical practices in country Australia faced unique challenges, not least of which was the ability to attract and retain quality health professionals.

“We need to be addressing these issues, so that rural areas can have access to a strong primary health service that allows for consistency of care, early intervention and ultimately, better health outcomes for patients,” he said.
