IT came down to the wire for Nichols Point Primary School’s girl’s rugby side last week as the team competed in the Sporting Schools Victoria state championships, the Billy Slater Shield.

The team of 13 Year 5 and 6 students travelled to Melbourne for the competition and took on peers from right across Victoria the following day.

Nichols Point Primary School sports co-ordinator Travers Zanker said despite drawing two and winning two of their four matches, the girls failed to reach the semi-finals due to a glitch in the rule book.
