Storm damage bill near as centre closes

THE incident control centre set up at Mildura to respond to the devastating Remembrance Day storm will close today and the total damage bill is expected to be calculated within a week.

Staff at the control centre will finish their assessment of the storm damage, which covered more than 400ha of horticultural land around Mildura and about 21,000ha of broadacre farmland in the Millewa and around Ouyen.

Incident controller Banjo Patterson said more than 1350 farmers had been contacted during assessments of loss and damage from the storm.
