NSW crossbench Senator David Leyonhjelm says South Australia is the only state that hasn’t suffered pain under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

Liberal Democrat Senator Leyonhjelm yesterday told an Adelaide radio station water buybacks had been difficult for Queensland, NSW and Victoria and he criticised SA Senator Nick Xenophon for calling on the government to allow an extra 450 gigalitres of water to be recovered for SA under the plan.

“I don’t think it’s the right thing to do for the country,” Senator Leyonhjelm said.
