THE Sergi family is accustomed to dealing with the calamities weather can pose after losing all the table grapes on their Red Cliffs fruit block in the hail storm more than two weeks ago.

Sam Sergi said a similar devastating storm struck his family in 1977, when he was 15 years old and his father was managing the property.

He said after witnessing hail damage to all of his family’s dried vine fruit crop 39 years ago he had decided to always insure his crop, which he is now thankful for.
