The 18-year-old was snapped up in last night’s AFL National Draft by Essendon at pick 42 after Greater Western Sydney Giants failed to match the Bombers’ bid for their academy player.

Mutch joins fellow former Sunraysia footballers Robbie Tarrant (North Melbourne), Sam Kerridge (Carlton) and new teammate Matt Dea in the AFL.

The Gol Gol teenager spent his early childhood in Broken Hill and this year was going to school in Bendigo while playing TAC Cup football for the Bendigo Pioneers.
