THE Murray River has risen to its highest levels in 20 years.

According to the flood markers at Mildura’s Lock 11, this year’s flood is about the 15th highest since records were first taken in the region in the latter half of the 19th century.

There was plenty of warning for Sunraysia residents as the Murray and its tributaries began flooding upstream several weeks ago.
