Advocacy work will continue after election

As a candidate in the 2016 Mildura Rural City Council election, my campaign is drawing to a close.

I have done the work, running every facet of the campaign myself.

Soon the people will decide who will sit on council.

Elected or not, I am now in a better position to advocate on behalf of our community than I was two years ago when I was pushing for a State Government review of cooling in public housing.

I intend to continue my advocacy whether or not I am elected and wish to investigate the possibility of founding a hospice in Mildura.

Although palliative care staff in our hospitals are wonderful, the environment needs to be improved for the sake of both patients and their families.

Improving the environment around the existing hospital facilities would help but the ideal solution is to establish a hospice proper.

Michael Jones,

Mildura Council candidate
