RURAL crime can have a devastating impact on farmers, industry and the community but often goes unreported, NSW police say.

NSW Police on Monday called on the community to report rural crimes, including the theft of livestock, produce and equipment, illegal shooting and trespassing.

A network of specialist rural crime investigators are stationed across the state to assist farmers in addressing rural crime.
