FORMER Imperials footballer Herb Henderson has recalled his clashes with Australian football legend John Coleman during his Victorian Football League days in the 1950s.

Henderson, now 86 and living in the South Australian town of Millicent, left Mildura at 19 in 1950 to play for Footscray and was part of the Bulldogs’ maiden VFL/AFL premiership in 1954.

During his career he played on the Essendon legend Coleman a number of times and mostly had his measure.
