Focus on science: Students' hands-on experience

LEARNING about the many ways science can be applied in the real world was a focus for more than 300 students from secondary schools across Sunraysia this week.

La Trobe University hosted students from Chaffey, Irymple, Mildura Christian, Red Cliffs and St Joseph’s secondary colleges for a day of interactive workshops as part of its Outreach Program.

La Trobe University Bundoora campus education officer Anna Vietz, who led the Get into Genes workshop, said the sessions aimed to build on what students learnt in class, and put their knowledge into the context of agricultural research.
