Broad stands firm

MEMBER for Mallee Andrew Broad says the Australian people expect the government to honour its election promise for them to decide on changes to the Marriage Act.

It comes after he told reporters in Canberra he would walk away from the government if it decided to allow a conscience vote on gay marriage.

His comments attracted criticism from the local LGBTIQ reference group, as well as his own party leader Barnaby Joyce, who told ABC Mr Broad’s comments were “not helpful”.
