Auditor gives council tick

THE Victorian Auditor-General has given Mildura Rural City Council’s books a tick of approval, despite claims made by election candidates the organisation is fighting insolvency.

The council received a clean bill of health from the auditor-general this month, having been judged on probity, fraud and waste.

In its 2015-16 annual report, the council’s total remuneration to 22 senior staff was listed at $3.8 million, an increase on the $2.6 million paid to 16 senior officers the year before.
