LEADING anti-pokies campaigner Reverend Tim Costello has suggested a casino in Mildura would have “profoundly” detrimental social and economic impacts.
The Alliance for Gambling Reform spokesman, Mr Costello visited Mildura this week to speak at a free community screening of the documentary Ka-Ching! Pokie Nation and public forum about problem gambling and poker machines.
An anti-pokies campaigner for about two decades, Mr Costello said the film, which has aired on the ABC, revealed how gaming machines were programmed for addiction.
