The public has called for greater accountability, better representation by State Government and protection of ratepayer funds at the four Far West Initiative (FWI)community consultation sessions.

More than 40 residents at the Carramar Drive Sporting Complex pavilion in Gol Gol on Wednesday called for a minister for the Far West, getting the NSW Government to listen actively, unlocking Western Lands leases for freehold development and solutions on how to deal with the Far West Unincorporated Area.

“If we take a step back, I guess one question is ‘will this (the proposed statutory regional ­governance body) be useful’,” ­independent facilitator Mark Conlon told ratepayers.
