'Reform, not change’

THE message from Wentworth Shire residents at the first of four public local government reform consultation sessions yesterday was clear – don’t reinvent the wheel.

Vocal residents called out the NSW Government for wanting to introduce bureaucrats and non-government organisations into local government and instead demanded that a minister for the Far West represent them and local ­government be empowered.

“I don’t think we should reinvent the wheel,” resident and Buronga-based disability support worker Carol Mayersbach said.
