Mildura council election 2016: Preferences to play key role in who gets in

PREFERENCES are likely to be highly influential in determining who fills the nine seats Mildura Council.

The 28 candidates this year is twice as many as in the council election of 2012 and well up on the average over the past five polls of 16.6.

Returning officer Trevor Leighton said preferences were going to be “very important” because the primary vote would be spread across a much higher number of candidates than last election.
