Youth views on violence

A SURVEY conducted by Youth Action NSW and White Ribbon Australia last year found more than three in four young Australians felt domestic violence was common.

The study, designed to develop an understanding of young people’s awareness of and attitudes towards domestic violence, revealed 83 per cent of young females and 60 per cent of males believed it to be common or very common in Australia.

The survey of more than 3000 respondents examined attitudes of 16 to 25-year-old and explored young people’s views toward gender stereotypes and violence in Australian society, including online domestic violence.
