Local kart driver Mitch Gladman hopes to start the 2012-13 Sunraysia Speedway Karters season with a bang at Olympic Park this weekend. Record entries are expected for the fast, no frills dirt track action.
A BRAND new season of speedway dirt kart racing kicks off at Olympic Park this Sunday afternoon as the 2012-13 series for Sunraysia Speedway Karters blasts into life.
With only a few months off since the last event of the 2011-12 schedule, a broad cross-section of kart racers will converge on the speedway for their first major hit out of the new season.
“We’ve received significant interest in racing speedway karts this year from a number of new competitors,” said Sunraysia Dirt Karters stalwart Christine Allen.
“I think this season will be our biggest on record.”
Mildura hard charger Mitch Gladman echoed those sentiments.
Known to his peers as “Rattle Gun”, Gladman pilots a very quick Choss Racing kart in an unmistakable outfit.
Mitch looks remarkably similar to “The Stig”, the ace driver of worldwide hit TV program Top Gear.
Dressed in all white and with the same helmet brand as “The Stig”, Mitch is a fearsome-looking individual on track but a friend to many in the pit area.
