CARDROSS pacer Altana Blue showed the benefit of recent racing and a drop back in class on his past two outings to win the KJN Simmonds Pace at last week’s Swan Hill trots meeting.
Altana Blue dropped back in class with the concession claim for in-form Ararat driver Emma Hamblin who settled outside the leader before the gelding was then given the run of the race in the one-one after a forward move by Apatchy Rebel.
Altana Blue raced away for an easy 7.1m victory to bring up his 10th career win and the fourth win from 12 outings since joining the local stable of Frank Mercieca in May last year.
