New coach for Lady Heat: Wall returns with fresh plans for recruiting and training Mildura side

FORMER Lady Heat guard Ang Wall has been appointed as head coach of the Sportzprint Lady Heat for the 2013 season.

The former star, who retired at the beginning of the year, will take over from Ross McFarlane, bringing a wealth high-level junior representative experience both as a player and coach.

The Mildura Basketball Association made the announcement yesterday and manager Adam Tarr was excited at the appointment of Wall.

“Ang was very impressive in her interview with the selection panel and she will no doubt put her stamp on the team in what she expects both on and off the court,” he said.

“With the level of talent we feel we posses, I think 2013 could be a very exciting year for the Lady Heat.”

Wall, who was a member of the 2011 team that pushed Warrnambool all the way to a three-game grand final series, will be looking to formally sign players for the group over the next month, with some pre-season work on the cards.

“It will be a tough pre-season as getting the girls as fit as possible for the 2013 season is one of my main goals early on,” she said.

“I hope to establish a high intense running game, which is best suited to our playing group.”

The new coach has wasted no time in chasing talent with the exciting news that former New Zealand import Terai Sadler, who played with Wall in the 2011 season, was very keen to return to Mildura after her American college season finishes mid-march next year.

“’T’ has already touched base with me and we are already making plans for her to return to play with us,” Wall said.
