Parr yearns for high five

MILDURA will be gunning for five consecutive SFNL Under 18 premierships this weekend when they clash with South Mildura.

Mildura coach Tony Parr said it would be a great achievement if they took the flag.

“It would be fantastic, but I don’t think the footy club is all about winning Under 18 premierships,” Parr said.

“The main objective is to get the kids playing senior footy and be successful in the seniors.

“But don’t get me wrong, it would be fantastic.”

Parr has been one of the key reasons for the Demons’ success since arriving as coach at the club in 2006.

He has been at the helm of the Under 18s team for three of their four flags, missing out on the 2009 premiership when he coached the Reserves.

But a modest Parr said the reason for the club’s success was having the right people in the right positions.

“It’s about quality training and discipline,” he said.

“You’ve got to have good kids and good helpers on the bench as well.
