Town shows true colours: Plenty of support for ‘underdog’ side

WENTWORTH and the surrounding communities are getting behind the Roos in this weekend’s SFNL grand final.

Shopkeepers and business owners have been busy decorating window fronts, bars and shops in red, white and blue.

Coomealla Club general manager Craig Muir said it was great for the community to have two football and two netball sides in the grand final.

“We always support the footy club and obviously the players come back here regularly so it’s good to see them in the grand final,” Mr Muir said.

“It just gives the local economy a bit of a boost, it’s just one of those things that is great for the local town and there is a bit of excitement in town.”

But Mr Muir admitted the Roos would go in as underdogs against the Swallows, who are on a 17-game winning streak.

“I think they’ve got a great chance, obviously Irymple has the wood on them at this stage of the season,” he said.

“In a grand final anything can happen so we’ve got our fingers crossed.”
