SOUTH Mildura coach Andrew Willison believes youngster Ryley Barrack can hold his spot in the Dogs senior side.
With only this round left before finals, the 16-year-old made his senior debut at the weekend and starred in the Dogs’ 108-point win over Imperials.
Barrack, who crossed over from soccer to Aussie Rules about three years ago, has been named the round 17 winner of the Walder Real Estate Rising Star of the Week.
Willison said if Barrack’s form continued to warrant senior selection, he would include him in the Dogs’ finals campaign.
“We’ve still got a few guys to come back in,” Willison said.
“If he’s in our best side, then we are going to play him.”
Willison said he was not surprised by Barrack’s performance in his senior debut.
“I obviously keep an eye on a lot of those kids and I think he has got all the capabilities,” he said.
“He’s a good sized kid, he chose to play Under 18s this year even though he can play Under 16s, which is good because it shows he’s willing to play at a higher level.
“He uses the ball exceptionally well and he has got a good footy brain.
“(From) what I’ve seen of him, he has got a bit of talent.”
