At the bar: Round 18

MR: The SFNL top four is secure mate, and only this week to go until the finals get underway!

TP: All that remains is who will play who but it will most likely be Irymple v Wentworth and South Mildura v Mildura. Finals aside for the time being though, the time has come where I take you down on the footy field!

MR: You've got to be able to touch the footy to take me down my friend! However, it is a fitting way to end our 2012 playing seasons, Imperials v Red Cliffs reserves at City Oval.

TP: All I need to be able to do is take you out of the game. I'll be applying a heavy defensive tag! This clash will be Billy Brownless v Jim Brayshaw!

MR: At least you're now paying some respect, apart from the fat jokes, you noodle-armed freak! Should be a good weekend to end the home and away season on, with plenty of even matches across the board.

TP: Highlighted by the Irymple and South game. South will be out to claim that second spot but they will be relying on Mildura to knock off Wentworth at George Gordon Oval.

MR: You could be forgiven for thinking it might be a dead rubber, but with that second chance on the line for the Doggies, that is unlikely to happen. Wentworth host Mildura who are in finals for the first time since 2008, Merbein and Robinvale loomed as being the clash to decide fourth about six weeks ago, and Imperials host Red Cliffs to see which side can finish 2-1 in their head to head's this year.

TP: Will be interesting to see how the Swallows approach the game though because they know their fate for next week.

MR: Team selection will also be interesting for all finals competitors, whether or not they put out full strength sides, or decide to give some key players a rest. I would lean towards the latter.

TP: Mildura will be one that will be resting players to make sure they're good to go for finals. Probably worth giving a mention to a different ball sport as well, mate. The Mildura Heat playing off for the Big V Division One championship this weekend. Get around them!

MR: Jermaine Williams, Kris Clark and all the boys have been in fantastic form, everyone in Mildura should be behind them as they clash with Geelong tonight.

TP: There'll be plenty of feeling as well. I'm expecting some biff! And more than what Joel Selwood gave his brother a few weeks back.

MR: Don't bring that up, avoid it like the plague, it still hits my nerves!

TP: Mildura's own Chris Tarrant hanged up the boots during the week as well. 256 games and 361 goals for Collingwood and Fremantle. Nothing to sneeze at!

MR: A great career for 'Taz', and great signs to for brother Robbie, who is on fire up forward for the Kangas.
