IRYMPLE took care of business in a hard-fought victory against an improving Imperials at City Oval on Saturday.
The theme of the day was to take maximum advantage of a gusty breeze towards the town end of the ground.
Despite Imperials having the better of the first and third quarters with the breeze at their backs, Irymple did it so much better when it was their turn, hammering a convincing 13.10 to no score with their turn came in the second and final term.
And they had Aaron Baynes. In what must have been one of the most complete and outstanding centre half forward displays in quite some time, the agile and gifted Irymple veteran found the wide open spaces very much to his liking, aided by good disposal and a weapon that Imperials could not contain.
Not much has gone right for Imps in the past two seasons, but they have a gem in John Coleman who could lead his people to greener pastures.
