MILDURA soprano Siobhan Stagg has racked up an impressive list of achievements for someone so young.
The 24-year-old this year made her New York recital debut and will spend most of the next two years overseas, training and performing in Wales, Italy, Germany and New Zealand.
As winner of the Australian International Opera Award, she will call Cardiff, Wales, home for 10 months from October, before spending two months in Italy thanks to a $50,000 Italian Opera Foundation Award.
Stagg, who has just finished her Master of Music at The University of Melbourne, will then join Deutsche Oper Berlin in Germany for its 2013-14 season as a developing artist, and will perform eight principal and supporting roles over 45 shows.
She said she would have to learn German in a year to understand performance directions, but was grateful her Italian lessons at school in Mildura prepared her for time in Italy.
On July 22, Stagg was awarded the $5000 first prize, $4000 O’Donnell family prize and Tait Memorial Trust prize at the Mietta Song Competition in Melbourne.
