Titans were too strong: Defeat Rabbitohs 34-26 in Sunraysia Rugby League

The Chaffey Titans defeated the Sunraysia Rabbitohs 34-26 when the Sunraysia Rugby League 2012 season kicked off on Saturday afternoon at Nichols Point Reserve.

In a tight tussle the Titans proved too strong for the gallant Rabbitohs.

Coming off strong pre-season club championship form, the Titans showed they are going to be a force this year with a solid team performance.

The Rabbitohs will no doubt improve as the season unfolds judging by the form of Lincoln Bailey, Robert Spencer and Josh Harris.

In the other game, the large crowd was treated to a great battle between the Mildura Warriors and Robinvale Storm.

The Warriors playing in their first SRL competition match just prevailed 22-16.

For the Warriors N. Penai, L. Veiqaravi (twice) and J. Ratu all scored tries whilst V. Namoumou booted three conversions.

For the Storm, K. Hafa, I. Ammi and M. Tali all scored tries.

The match was a superb contest between two highly skilled teams with some great line breaks and impressive defence leaving the result in dispute right up until the final siren.

Round Two continues at Nichols Point Reserve on Saturday with the Rabbitohs taking on the Warriors followed by last year’s premiers the Tigers taking on the Titans.

Kick off commences at 11am with a women’s exhibition match followed by the men’s games.
