WHAT was once a “well-kept secret” in Mildura is now a burgeoning celebration of that which defines this region.
The 62nd annual Mildura Field Days underwent a transformation this year to better promote the innovation and integration of agriculture and local community.
Traditionally an agricultural event, an expanded Mildura Field Days boasts a number of new initiatives in 2013 to broaden its appeal and redefine it as a whole community event.
Mildura Field Days chair Warren Lloyd believed this year’s slogan “where agriculture and community unite” summed up the vision and direction for the event.
“The Mildura Field Days has been a well-kept secret for many years as we’d just kept it to the farming community, but this year we’re really inviting the whole community to come down and have a look,” he said.
“By making changes to our days and increasing our publicity, we’ve been able to increase the number of exhibitors that we’ve had (previously) and there is great diversity here, too.
“This is going to be burgeoning on the biggest Field Days Mildura has ever had.”
Mr Lloyd added Mildura Field Days was a “hugely important” opportunity for the district to celebrate agriculture’s contribution to the community.
