TIM Walker’s stocks in his golfing career in the United States continue to rise.
Granted a scholarship to the Central Alabama Community College (CACC) for his golfing prowess, the 19-year-old has qualified for the NJCAA National Championship and was selected in the All-Region team for his performances.
Walker was tied for third overall in the District Championship at Boscobel in Pendleton, South Carolina, gaining his first top-five finish for the semester after previous top 10 finishes.
Walker told Sunraysia Daily he had been happy with his game, and his All-Region selection came as a surprise.
“You know, going into that tournament, I had been playing well just having one or two bad holes which would cost me a good round,” he said.
“But this event, I hit it well off the tee, hit a lot of good approach shots, and holed my fair share of some putts.
“At the start of this season I was making a couple of changes to my routine and swing, which set me back about a month on where I wanted to be form-wise, but as this semester has gone on I have gotten better and better.
“T-3 is my best finish this season, but I have also had two other top 10s so I am really happy to get my first top five of this semester.”
