MILDURA BMX Club members hope to dish out some dirt at the upcoming BMX Victoria Open State Championships.
Fifteen local riders will go up against some of the best riders from across the state, and the country, in the race to be the number one in Melbourne on November 23 -25.
Kamahl Lord and youngster Ethan Zrna are viewed as the best local chances to take out wins.
Lord will compete in a large field of 30 in the A men section, while Zrna is in a field of 28 in the 9-year-old boys.
Lachlan McSwain (19-24 men), Klae Richards (18 boys), Liam Helms (12 boys, 11-12 boys Cruiser), Chloe Helms (9 girls), and Tori Zrna (11 girls) are also considered good chances to go far in their respective age groups.
Two riders that will attend their maiden State Championships, Dillon Sharp (15 boys) and Zac Slide (8 boys), are both excited to get their first taste of riding with the best from across Australia.
Sharp will turn 15 on his race day.
“It’s a pretty good birthday present,” he said.
“I’m a bit nervous, but I’ll go and have a crack.”
Slide, 8, was more forthright in his predictions.
